Mostly I use Trelby and/or Fountain-Mode in Emacs, just because I'm used to them. Scrivener is cheap, Fade In is pretty cheap and the combination (I think) would work pretty well together. But if I got serious about writing feature scripts I think I would look at Scrivener for the original outlining and research, then export to Final Draft format (which can be imported by about every screenplay application) for the final work. (My brother lost a short script when he was writing in a Final Draft trial version.)Īs for outlining, etc., when I do it I usually use paper. Plus Movie Magic Screenwriter was rock solid - Final Draft had its quirks even then. I never liked Microsoft Word and Final Draft reminded me too much of Word. But even when I used Windows (not since about 2006) I didn't like Final Draft - I used Movie Magic Screenwriter (or its close cousin, ScriptThing). The biggest advantage for me is that Fade In can be used in Linux.
